I.M. PEI, ARCHITECT WHO DESIGNED JFK LIBRARY, DIES AT 102
New York City (JFK+50) I.M. Pei*, the architect who designed the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum in Boston, has died at the age of 102 here in New York City. Mr. Pei, who also designed the large glass pyramid at the entrance to the Louve Museum, "was considered a modernist." He also designed the East Building of the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.
The architect once said...
"There are many elements that come into play to create a form. Space...(and) Light is terribly important."
I.M.Pei considered the JFK Library to be "the most important commission" in his life.
*I.M. Pei (1917-2019) was born in Guangzhou, China & raised in Hong Kong and Shanghai. He attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology & Harvard University Graduate School of Design (1942-1946). IMP received the Pritzker Prize, the Royal Gold Medal & the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
