DAILY MAIL PROTESTS GERMAN BUY BACK OF PLANTATIONS IN KAMERUN
London (JFK+50) On November 7, 1924, the Associated Press reports that "Germans have a chance to buy back a considerable area of their lost colony of Kamerun*, in western Africa."
Fifty thousand acres of "valuable plantations" in the West Africa country "are to be auctioned in London on November 24."
The Daily Mail is protesting such a purchase which would involve the building of submarine bases in Kamerun.
*Kamerun (Cameroon) became a German colony in 1884 but was divided between France (4/5) & UK (1/5) after WWI. In 1972, the country, located between Nigeria & Central African Republic, became the United Republic of Cameroon.
