EVIDENCE REPORTEDLY SHOWS VIKINGS VISITED AMERICA 471 YEARS BEFORE COLUMBUS
Spokane, Washington (JFK+50) On November 8, 1924, Norwegian scientist Oluf L. Opsjon* announced two discoveries "which he believes will confirm deductions from inscriptions on rocks in the Pacific Northwest that a Norse expedition visited this part of the country in 1010 A.D."
According to the Associated Press, the scientist found a runic inscription describing the burial of a Viking in armor. A carved stone tablet was also discovered which gives a history of the early Norse expedition.
*Oluf L. Opsjon was born in Flakstad, Norway in 1860.
JFK+50 NOTE
In 1898, Opsjon claimed to have found a runestone in Kensington, Minnesota but it was later discredited by other scientists. Some, however, are convinced it is authentic.
According to a 2021 study published in "Nature," Vikings visited North America in 1021 AD based on a dating technique analyzing tree rings from wood cut for a Norse settlement in Newfoundland.
