"YOU NEED TO HAVE YOUR EYES EXAMINED"

'EYE COURT' IN RICHMOND TO CHECK TRAFFIC VIOLATORS' VISION

Richmond, Virginia (JFK+50) On November 25, 1924, the Associated Press reports than an "eye court" has been set up here in Richmond in connection with the city police court.

The arrangement will require all persons arrested for traffic violations to take an eye examination.  If a person's vision is found to be defective, he or she will be given a warning to have it corrected.

If not corrected and a second arrest occurs, that person will be given a "double fine."  On the third arrest, their prisoner's permit will be revoked.

It is hoped that the eye court will help in "preventing automobile accidents."

JFK+50 NOTE

Statistics show that drivers with poor eyesight have as much as an 81% crash involvement rate.
