JFK ANNOUNCES YOUTH JOBS COMMISSION


Washington, D.C. (JFK+50) President John F. Kennedy announced today the creation of The President's Commission on Youth Employment.


The commission, composed of 23 members, is to be headed by Secretary of Labor Arthur Goldberg.


The purpose of the commission is to address the millions of "baby-boomers" who are & will be in need of employment.


Baby-boomers are those Americans born after World War II, beginning in 1946.


Although general unemployment is down from 5.7 million in January to 3.9 million in October, the President said:


"I am particularly disturbed over the serious plight of nearly 1 million out of school & out of work youth."*


*The Baby Boom Generation (1946-1964) is now & will be putting stress on the Social Security system.

KHRUSHCHEV SAYS USSR IS SUPERIOR IN NUCLEAR WEAPONS


Moscow, USSR (JFK+50) Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev, in an interview with an American newsman, said today that his country has nuclear superiority over the United States.


He said that to prove his point he challenges the USA to a "shooting match".


The Soviet premier added, however, that the USSR would never start a nuclear war.


The statement comes just days after the leak of the Gaither Report which says the US is falling behind in the arms race.

PHOTO ALBUM FOR JFK IS STOLEN


Boston, Massachusetts (JFK+50) A maroon, leather-bound photo album with gold lettering that was to be a gift for Senator John F. Kennedy has been stolen from a parked automobile.


The album was to be presented to JFK tomorrow night at a dinner honoring both the Senator & Representative J.W. McCormack.


Photographs in the album were taken at the 1956 Democratic Convention in Chicago & were to be given to JFK by Senator J. Powers of South Boston.


A reward has been offered for its' return.

CHAMBERLAIN STUDIES PLAN FOR RESCUE OF GERMAN JEWS


London, England (JFK+50) Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain studied a plan today for the rescue and settlement of German Jews.


Assisting the PM with the plan were British Foreign Secretary Viscount Halifax, Dominions & Colonial Secretary Malcolm MacDonald & U.S. Ambassador Joseph P. Kennedy, Sr.


The plan is to be funded by governments & individuals around the world.
