"MARKING 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF GENERAL'S BIRTH"

HARDING TO SPEAK AT GRANT'S BIRTHPLACE

Washington, D.C. (JFK+50) On April 26, 1922, President Warren G. Harding left the Nation's Capital for Ohio where he will speak tomorrow at the birthplace of General Ulysses S. Grant.

The Tribune reports this is the President's first visit back to his home state since he entered the White House

President Harding will address some 20,000 persons at 1 p.m. local time in Point Pleasant*.  The town's listed population is only 150.

The President's appearance marks the 100th anniversary of General Grant's birth.  Mr. Harding will be accompanied by the First Lady and Attorney General Daugherty.

*Point Pleasant is a small community located in Clermont County, Ohio about 25 miles SE of Cincinnati.  The one story cottage in which Gen. Grant was born is on display here.
