ERIE ENGINEER MAKES 18,000TH RUN IN 25 YEARS
Nyack, New York (JFK+50) On May 20, 1922, Engineer William A. Johnson of the Erie Railroad* pulled into the Nyack station making it his 18,000th run in 25 years.
Mr. Johnson is completing his 25th year as pilot of the Nyack Flyer, his 65th in the Erie system and his 50th as engineer.
The engineer's locomotive is No. 514 and bears the name "William A. Johnson."
*Erie Railroad connected New York City with Lake Erie at Dunkirk, New York. ERR was founded in 1832 & the length of its run was 2316 miles. It operated until 1960.
