GEORGE J. GOULD MARRIES ACTRESS IN PARIS
New York City (JFK+50) On July 11, 1922, it was learned that George J. Gould* "was married a week ago in Paris to Mrs. Alice Sinclair."
The bride is an actress who is reported to have performed in the Shubert** production "To-night's the Night."
The newlyweds will be on honeymoon in Scotland before returning to New York where they will take up residence on Fifth Avenue.
*George Jay Gould (1864-1923) was born in New York City son of Jay Gould, the "robber baron" of the Gilded Age. GJG became an executive of the Denver & Rio Grande Western RR, Western Pacific RR & Manhattan Railway Co. He died on the French Riviera after contracting a fever in Egypt. His estate was valued at $15 million but payment of debts reduced it to $5 million.
**Shubert Theater...Sam, Lee & JJ Shubert developed theaters in the early 1910s & the new Shubert Theater opened in NYC in 1913. It is located at 225 West 44th Street in Midtown Manhattan.
