"50 GRAMS OF ANILIN DYE WITH 200 LITERS OF WATER"

GERMAN ENGINEER PERFECTS PROCESS FOR COLORING LIVING TREES

Dresden, Germany (JFK+50) On August 25, 1922, the Evening Star reports "a process for coloring living trees" has been perfected by a German engineer named Reimann.  Final tests were completed in the nearby forest of Tharandt*.

Applying fifty grams of Anilin dye mixed with 200 liters of water "can completely and permanently color" a whole tree within 48 hours.

The Star reports two companies located in Dresden will produce such items as furniture, cigarette cases and pen holders "made up in the new colored wood."

*Tharandt is a landscape in the center of the German free state of Saxony & lies southwest of the forest town of Tharandt.
