SEVEN YEAR GHOST DISAPPEARS AFTER FARMHAND'S BODY DISCOVERED & BURIED
Painesville, Ohio* (JFK+50) On August 12, 1922, the Evening Star reports a 'ghost' said to have been haunting farmers in this area for the past seven years "is at rest."
The 'ghost' suddenly disappeared after the body of Henry Lipenstick was buried "several days ago" after having been discovered "in an abandoned well on a farm."
Lipenstick worked as a farmhand for the owner, Frank Lerman, who "was bound over to the grand jury on charges of murder."
*Painesville is the county seat of Lake County, Ohio located 27 miles NE of Cleveland. It was named in honor of General Edward Paine^ who served in the Revolutionary War. In the early 1900s, mansions were built here as summer estates of wealthy Clevelanders.
^Edward Paine (1746-1841) was born in Ellington, Connecticut & served in the Connecticut Militia during the Revolutionary War. EP moved to New York State where he served in the legislature & was made a Brigadier General in the militia. He moved to Ohio where he served in the territorial legislature.
