CLEMENCEAU LUNCHES AT THE WHITE HOUSE
Washington, D.C. (JFK+50) On December 7, 1922, Georges Clemenceau* took lunch with President Warren G. Harding at the White House. The Evening Star reports "it was the only formal engagement of the day" for Mr. Clemenceau.
The "elderly...war premier" decided to "make no further engagements" during (his) visit in the United States. Before the luncheon, Clemenceau met with Assistant Navy secretary Roosevelt and John Hays Hammond and Colonel E. M. House.
*Georges Benjamin Clemenceau (1841-1929) was prime minister of France 1906-1909 &1917-1920. CBC was a physician turned journalist who was nicknamed "Tiger."
