"AGAINST RUHR OCCUPATION & ENDORSE DISARMAMENT"

WOMEN  DEMAND NEW PEACE BASED ON INTERNATIONAL AGREEMENTS

The Hague (JFK+50) On December 9, 1922, the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom* "adopted resolutions demanding a new peace based upon new international agreements."

In addition, the organization called on its members "to work for the convening of a world congress for this purpose."

The resolutions, adopted unanimously, also included a warning against occupation of the Ruhr and an endorsement of the principle of disarmament.

*WILPF was founded in 1915 in Geneva.  Jane Addams served as president.  It is a non-profit, non-governmental organization which seeks to bring together women of differing political views, philosophies & religions.  Today, WILPF has 100 branches in the U.S. & 50 more in 50 countries.
