"WORK HARD & TIRE NOT!"

 GANDHI SENTENCED TO SIX YEARS IMPRISONMENT FOR SEDITION

Ahmedabad, British India (JFK+50) On March 18 1922, Mohandas K. Gandhi*, India's non-co-operationist leader, was sentenced to "six years imprisonment without hard labor" for sedition.

"Mahatma," or 'wonder worker,' as he is called, is considered to be, according to the Associated Press, "the most influential public man in India."

Before being taken away to prison, Gandhi told his followers...

"Work hard and tire not!"

*Mohandas K. Gandhi (1869-1948) was born in Gujarat & trained as a lawyer in London.  MKG became an anti-colonial nationalist who utilized non-violent protest to lead a successful campaign for Indian independence from Britain.
