"ALASKA MUST BE DEVELOPED ON A LARGER SCALE"

SENATOR ATTACKS RESTRICTIONS PLACED ON ALASKA

Seattle, Washington (JFK+50) On June 1, 1923, The Seward Daily Gateway reports Senator Andrieus A. Jones* (D-New Mexico) attacked last evening "the so-called Christion policy in restrictions placed upon Alaska."

The Senator said these restrictions are "a great detriment to the western country," and added...

"Alaska must be developed on a larger scale."

Members of Congress were guests along with their wives of the Arctic Club.

*Andrieus Aristieus Jones (1862-1927) was born near Union City, Tennessee & graduated from Valparaiso College.  AAJ relocated to New Mexico in 1885 & served in the U.S. Senate 1917-1927.
