BAY STATE TOWN IS A 'GIRL'S PARADISE' FOR PROSPECTIVE HUSBANDS
Clinton, Massachusetts (JFK+50) On May 15, 1924, the International News Service reports that "there are 2500 bachelors" in Clinton, Massachusetts* "providing a great opportunity for girls...seeking husbands."
The report describes these men as being "tall...small, fat and thin, blond and brunette...bald or toupee wearers."
This little town is described as a "girl's paradise" with competition among the men being "very keen" for each girl's hand.
The Town Clerk says that Clinton is home to 3000 married couples.
*Clinton, incorporated in 1850, is located in Worcester County, central Massachusetts. In 2020 it had a population of 15,428 with 3,397 families. It was named after the DeWitt Clinton Hotel in New York. Famous residents include Clarence Brown, film director & Agnes Moorehead, actress.
