AGRICULTURE DEPT BULLETIN SAYS SOME HUMANS EAT CATS
Washington, D.C. (JFK+50) On May 8, 1925, The Evening Star reports on a bulletin issued by the United States Department of Agriculture. The bulletin states...
"The cat crop ranks third in importance. Cats traditionally constitute the banner horse feed of the world and 3% is used for human consumption."
The only problem with the bulletin is that the Linotype* operator "consistently hit the letter 'c' instead of the letter 'o'."
The bulletin about oats thus became a bulletin about cats.
There can be no doubt that if this Linotype operator were working at the DOA today, DOGE would fire him.
JFK+50 COMMENT
JFK once said "an error doesn't become a mistake until you refuse to correct it." By that reasoning, this repeated error by an employee of the Department of Agriculture justly qualifies as a mistake.
*Linotype, a typesetting machine that cast entire lines of type from molten metal. Invented by Ottmar Morgenthaler, it revolutionized the printing industry.
