72 YEAR OLD INMATE LIKED JAIL SO MUCH HE WILL SEEK EMPLOYMENT THERE AFTER HIS RELEASE
New Brunswick, New Jersey (JFK+50) On July 24, 1925, Associated Press reports that one Jonathan T. Meeker, a 72 year old alimony dodger, will soon be released from the Middlesex City Jail where he has been serving time for the past three years for not paying his wife's alimony*.
The court will waive his $12 per week alimony and is moving for his release. The elderly inmate seems no worse for his time in jail. In fact, he said...
"It was great in there. I had all the freedom I wanted--more...than I would have as a married man."
Mr. Meeker plans to seek employment at the jail after his release.
*alimony, a.k.a. spousal support, is a court-ordered payment from one spouse to another after divorce or separation.
