WEDDING CELEBRATION OF ELDERLY COUPLE ENDS IN RIOT
Washington, D.C. (JFK+50) On September 30, 1925, The Evening Star reports that last night at Red's Corner a wedding was celebrated so enthusiastically that the 75 year old bride ended up "a casualty" and some of the town "a wreck."
After the wedding ceremony of Mrs. Estelle Windsor and Mr. N.O. Day, celebrants gathered in front of the couple's home setting off firecrackers, pistols and shotguns.
The situation got so bad that Mrs. Day attempted to get the crowd to disperse when she was struck on the hand with a stick.
Having recognized 9 of the participants, Mr. & Mrs. Day plan to swear out warrants for their arrest.
