"NO EVIDENCE OF CONTINUED BLEEDING"

FORMER PRESIDENT HOOVER'S CONDITION SHOWING 'SOME' IMPROVEMENT

New York City (JFK+50) On June 15, 1963, Associated Press reports that former President Herbert Hoover*, seriously ill with a gastr0-intestinal condition, has shown "some improvement."

Doctors said, "Today, there is no evidence of continued bleeding."

The oldest living POTUS, at 88 years of age, had an operation last August "for removal of a tumor from his large intestine."  Since then Mr. Hoover has appeared "thin and drawn."

JFK+50 NOTE

President Hoover, at the time of this report, was staying at his suite in the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City.  He died on Oct 20 1964 at the age of 90.  By 1964, the only POTUS to live to the age of 90 was John Adams.  Herbert Hoover became the second.

*Herbert Clark Hoover (1874-1964) was born in West Branch, Iowa & earned his BS at Stanford University.  HCH served as Secretary of Commerce 1921-1928 & as 31st POTUS 1929-1933.
