KHRUSHCHEV IS NOT GOING TO DISNEYLAND

Los Angeles, California (JFK+50) Visiting Soviet premier, Nikita Khrushchev, was informed today that he will not be permitted to visit Disneyland during his visit to California.

Mr. Khrushchev, to put it mildly, was not pleased to hear about this decision.

Government officials apparently decided the visit would be too much of a security risk for the Soviet leader.

Earlier, Khrushchev was given a tour of 20th Century Fox studios & was joined for lunch by Frank Sinatra.

Las Vegas, Nevada (JFK+50) The world's first underground nuclear explosion occurred today at the Nevada Test Site, 65 miles north of Las Vegas.

The good news is that the test produced no radio active fallout.*

*In 1963, JFK signed the "Limited" Test Ban Treaty which prohibited all testing except underground.  In 1996, President Clinton signed the "Comprehensive" Test Ban Treaty which prohibited ALL nuclear testing.

PRESIDENT GARFIELD DIES IN NEW JERSEY

Elberon, New Jersey (JFK+50) President James A. Garfield passed away at 10:20 this evening here in Elberon, New Jersey.

The President died from complications of one of the wounds he suffered in an assassination attempt in Washington 80 days ago.

Mr. Garfield's wife, Lucretia, was by his side at the end.

She said: "Why am I made to suffer this cruel wrong."

Garfield, who was 49 years old, served as President only 4 months before the shooting.*

*An autopsy would show that pressure from Garfield's internal wound created an aneurysm which was determined to be the cause of death.

Garfield's assassin, Charles J. Guiteau, was found guilty of murder & hanged on June 30, 1882.

I find it interesting that Garfield's chief physician was Doctor Willard Bliss. While he was a Doctor of Medicine, his 1st name was also Doctor.  I guess they called him 'Doctor Doctor Bliss'.
