HOW LYNDON GOT ON THE TICKET I

Knoxville, Tennessee (JFK+50) Today we begin our report on Chapter 7 of the book by Kenneth P. O'Donnell & David F. Powers with Joe McCarthy.  It is published by Little, Brown & Company.

The title of Chapter 7 is HOW LYNDON GOT ON THE TICKET.

Kenneth O'Donnell writes that Dave Powers went to Los Angeles a week in advance to find a place where JFK could "get away from the turmoil" at the Biltmore Hotel where the KENNEDY HEADQUARTERS would be located.

Dave found an apartment house at 511 North Rossmore Avenue just 10 minutes from the Biltmore & the convention center where the convention would be held.

The house was owned by the actor Jack Haley & his wife.

Dave stayed with Senator Kennedy, Kenny tells us, in the apartment for the 1st 4 nights of convention week.

Each morning Dave would cook the Senator's breakfast which would be the same offering daily except no bacon on Friday.

Even Pierre Salinger did not know the whereabouts of JFK's hideaway apartment, but soon enough Pierre was told & shortly thereafter the apartment was surrounded by the press.
