A year later he earned his law degree from the New York School of Law and passed the bar exam in July of 1990.

Mr. Kennedy served as a prosecutor in Manhattan for 4 years and married Carolyn Bessette on September 21, 1996.

In a memorial service held on July 23, 1999, Senator Edward M. Kennedy, John Jr.'s "Uncle Teddy" said:

"We dared to think....that this John Kennedy would live to comb gray hair, with his beloved Carolyn by his side, but like his father, he had every gift but length of years."
