IMMIGRATION POLICY SHOULD BE GENEROUS, FAIR & FLEXIBLE

JFK+50:  Volume 7, No. 2204

AMERICA IS A NATION OF IMMIGRANTS

Washington, D.C. (JFK+50) In 1958, Senator John F. Kennedy of Massachusetts wrote "A Nation of Immigrants."  It was published in 1964 and reissued in 2008.

The Anti-Defamation League*, which joined with Harper Perennial for the reissue,  says...

"John F. Kennedy was passionate about the issue of immigration.  He believed that America is a nation of people who value both tradition and the exploration of new frontiers, people who deserve the freedom to build better lives for themselves in their adopted homeland."

In "A Nation of Immigrants," John F. Kennedy wrote...

"Immigration policy should be generous, it should be fair, it should be flexible. With such a policy, we can turn to the world, and to our own past, with clean hands and a clear conscience."

*The Anti-Defamation League was founded in 1913 to stop the defamation of the Jewish people & to secure justice & fair treatment to all.  The ADL today fights anti-Semitism & all forms of bigotry, defends democratic ideals & protects civil rights for all."
