CRYING IN THE RAIN & JEZEBEL

EVERLY BROTHERS PERFORM ON ED SULLIVAN SHOW

Miami Beach, Florida (JFK+50) On Sunday evening, February 18, 1962, the Everly Brothers* performed on the Ed Sullivan Show originating from the Hotel Fontainebleau here in Miami Beach.  The brothers sang "Crying in the Rain" and "Jezebel" while wearing their United States Marine Corps uniforms.

The New Orleans trumpeter Al Hirt played "Night and Day", "I Can't Get Started With You" and "When the Saints Go Marching In".  Timi Yuro sang "Come Rain or Shine" and "Wrap Your Troubles In Dreams".

Ed Sullivan also presented comedy routines by George Jessel and George Kirby.

*The Everly Brothers (Don b. 1937 & Phil 1939-2014) grew up in Iowa where their Dad had a radio show in the mid-1940s.  The family moved to Knoxville, TN in 1953 where the brothers attended West High School.

TEBs moved to Nashville where they recorded "Bye Bye Love" in Feb 1957.  It went to #2 on the pop charts & #1 on the country charts & became a million seller.
