IF YOU HAVEN'T PURCHASED YOUR LIBERTY BOND, DO IT NOW!

PRESIDENT WILSON REVIEWS PARADE WITH ARM IN SLING

Washington, D.C. (JFK+50) On April 27, 1918, President Woodrow Wilson was photographed standing in an open automobile on Pennsylvania Avenue reviewing a Liberty Loan Parade.  The Library of Congress photograph is accompanied by a short message stating that Mr. Wilson's left arm was in a sling.*

On the same date, the Pittsburg Daily Headlight of Pittsburg, Kansas reported that the Liberty Bond Drive was $1,000,000,000 short of its' goal and urged readers....

"If You Haven't Purchased Your Liberty Bond, Do It Now -- If You Have One, Get Another."

*JFK+50 received a reply to our question about WW's arm in a sling.  Mark Peterson of the WW Presidential Library tells us that there is nothing in the medical records but "a few references to (WW) burning his hand on a tank turret in April 1918."  Mr. Peterson believes the P's hand was so painful "he could not risk moving it."
