ROCK OF A FAMILY DEDICATED TO PUBLIC SERVICE

FORMER FIRST LADY BARBARA BUSH DEAD AT 92

Houston, Texas (JFK+50) Former First Lady Barbara Bush died yesterday here in Houston of congestive heart failure and chronic pulmonary disease.  Former President George Herbert Walker Bush held her hand as she passed.

Mrs. Bush's remains will lie in repose at St. Martin's Church and a public viewing is scheduled for Friday.  The former First Lady will be interred on Saturday at the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum in College Station, Texas.  

Barbara Bush had 6 children, 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.  Her grandson George P. Bush said...

"My grandmother didn't just live life, she lived it well."

and former President and First Lady Barack and Michelle Obama said...

"Barbara Bush was the rock of a family dedicated to public service."


*Barbara Pierce Bush (1925-2018) was born in Queens, New York & graduated from Ashley Hall School in Charleston, South Carolina.  Barbara married George H.W. Bush in 1945.  She served as Second Lady of the U.S. & as First Lady (1989-1993) she worked to advance the cause of universal literacy & founded the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy.
