THE FUHRER GAVE INSTRUCTIONS FOR HIS & EVA'S BODIES TO BE BURNED

HITLER COMMITS SUICIDE IN BERLIN

Berlin, Germany (JFK+50) On April 30, 1945, Adolf Hitler committed suicide in the Fuhrer Bunker below the Reich Chancellery here in Berlin.  Hitler, who had been underground since January 16th, took a cyanide capsule and shot himself with a pistol.  Eva Braun*, who Hitler had married the day before, joined her husband in suicide.

According to the History Learning Site, Soviet troops attacking Berlin outnumbered the Germans 15 to 1.  The only means by which Hitler and the others in the Bunker could learn what was going on in the city was by telephoning civilians at random.

Having learned that Benito Mussolini and his mistress had been shot and their bodies humiliated, the Fuhrer gave instructions to his adjutant, Otto Gunsche**, to take his and Eva's bodies into the garden outside the Bunker's entrance and burn them.

After saying goodbye to their comrades, Adolf Hitler and Eva Braun disappeared inside the Fuhrer's private apartment and ended their lives.  The time was 3:15 in the afternoon.

*Eva Anna Paula Braun Hitler (1912-1945) was born in Munich & educated at a Catholic lyceum.  EAPBH met Adolf Hitler in Oct 1929.

**Otto Gunsche (1917-2003) was born in Jena, Germany & joined the Nazis in 1934.  He served in a Panzer Co. in the German army in WWII before becoming personal adjutant to the Fuhrer.  OG was imprisoned by the Soviets at the end of the war & released in 1956.
