JFK ADDRESSES CONFERENCE ON PEACEFUL USES OF SPACE
Tulsa, Oklahoma (JFK+50) On May 26, 1961, President John F. Kennedy addressed by telephone, from the Signal Corps Recording Studios at the White House, the Conference on Peaceful Uses of Space meeting at the Fair Grounds here in Tulsa.
The President said...
"Your conference subject deals with the very heart of our national policy in space research & explorations. All of us...can derive many benefits from the peaceful application of space technology. We can safely predict that the impact of the space age will have a far-ranging effect within industry...in our labor force, on medical research, education, and (more)."
The President continued...
"The keystone of our national policy is space research. I have suggested a great national effort in the field of space for the American people."
JFK+50 NOTE:
On the previous day, May 25, 1961, President Kennedy set the goal for the United States to "land a man on the moon & return him safely to earth before this decade is out."
