"BETTER IN CALIFORNIA THAN BABYLON PALACES"

'FAMOUS DIVA' LOSES CHAUFFEUR HUSBAND

San Francisco, California (JFK+50) On March 14, 1922, the Associated Press reports "famous diva" Margarete Matzenauer* "apparently has lost her chauffeur husband Floyd Glotzback" who returned to his job at the Del Monte Hotel.

The "100 per cent man,"   as described by Margarete, said...

"I'd rather be a chauffeur in California than to dwell forever in the palaces of Babylon."

*Margarete Matzenauer (1881-1963) was born in Austria-Hungary (Romania) & became a mezzo-soprano singer performing at the New York Metropolitan Opera 19 seasons.

**Hotel Del Monte (1880-1942) located in Monterey, CA was one of the finest luxury hotels in North America
