"A GENERAL CHORUS OF EXPLETIVES IN VARIOUS TONGUES"

25 MILES OF UNHAPPY DIPLOMATS ARE SCATTERED ALONG THE ITALIAN COAST

Rapallo, Italy* (JFK+50) On April 11, 1922, the Associated Press reports that "twenty-five miles of diplomats" are "scattered along the rugged Italian seacoast with mountains between them."

Apparently, the delegates to "the most extended" Genoa Conference** are spending a great deal of time commuting either by motor car or on suburban trains.

The AP writes...

"As one approaches Genoa, Poles, Spaniards, Portuguese, Hungarians, Austrians, Bulgarians and Albanians...add their various tongues to the general chorus of expletives."

*Rapallo is a town located on the Italian Riviera coastline known for the hilltop sanctuary of "Our Lady of Montallegro"

**Genoa Economic & Financial Conference (April 10-May 19, 1922) was a meeting of delegates representing 34 nations in Genoa, Italy to resolve economic & political issues facing Europe.  The meeting was organized by Great Britain's David Lloyd George
