WOODROW WILSON SEES THIS AS A CRITICAL TURNING APPOINT IN AFFAIRS OF MANKIND
Washington, D.C. (JFK+50) On April 30, 1922, the Sunday Star reports that a letter from former President Woodrow Wilson, read the previous evening at a "dinner tendered to Chairman Cordell Hull*," stated that "this is...a critical turning point in the affairs of mankind, and it...falls to the democrats...to lead the way to the light."
Mr. Wilson's letter concluded with these words...
"Women...are sure to contribute to this great purpose the invaluable stimulation of their enthusiasm and devotion."

Woodrow Wilson had been extended an invitation to attend the dinner but declined due to poor health. The affair was sponsored by women members of the Democratic National Committee.
*Cordell Hull (1871-1955) was born in Olympus, Tennessee & graduated Cumberland School of Law, 1891. CH served in the Spanish-American War & represented TN's 4th District in the U.S. House of Representatives, 1907-1921, 1923-1931. He served in the U.S. Senate, 1931-1933, & as Secretary of State, 1933-1944.
