JOHN D. ROCKEFELLER PASSES OUT DIMES AT HOSPITAL WHILE VISITING GRANDSON
New York City (JFK+50) On July 10, 1922, John D. Rockefeller* made an appearance at Presbyterian Hospital, Madison Avenue and Seventeenth Streets, here in New York City.
Mr. Rockefeller visited his grandson, Nelson Rockefeller**, who was being treated for a leg wound caused by an accidental shot from his own BB rifle.
The 14 year old young man had been playing with friends on the grounds of his father's estate when the air rifle accidentally fired. He didn't pay much attention to the leg wound until an hour later when it began to swell.
While visiting at the hospital, John D. Rockefeller passed out dimes to most everyone he came in contact with.
JFK+50 COMMENT
Should you think the wealthy Mr. Rockefeller was a bit stingy with his money passing out dimes, please be aware that a dime in 1922 would be worth $1.74 in 2022.
