"THE STAR CAR HAS ARRIVED"

W.C. DURANT OFFERS A QUALITY CAR FOR A MODEST PRICE

Washington, D.C. (JFK+50) On August 30, 1922, the Evening Star ran an advertisement for W.C. Durant's* STAR CAR** which, according to the ad on page 21, "provides for the first time a quality automobile, standardized in construction and operation for a modest sum of money."

The least expensive model available lists for $285 while the most expensive, a sedan, goes for $645.

The ad gives the address of Star Motor Company as 1128-1130 Connecticut Avenue, NW. 

 *William Crapo Durant (1861-1947) was born in Boston, MA & became a leading pioneer in the American automobile industry. WCD was co-founder of General Motors Corporation.

**The Star Car was produced from 1922 to 1928.  Only a four-cylinder engine was available until 1926 when a six-cylinder was added to the line-up.  The Star Car was built from parts supplied by other companies.
