SHERLOCK HOLMES CAP BIDDING FOR HIGH POPULARITY
New York City (JFK+50) On November 14, 1922, the "Sherlock Holmes* cap" arrived here in New York, and according to the Tribune, "is bidding for a high place in male headgear popularity for the season."
The cap has visors at both ends with a ribbon tie at the crest. Its technical name, appropriately, is "fore-and-aft."
The Tribune says that the only drawback to this style of men's head wear is that "at first glance" it is impossible to tell if the wearer "is coming or going."
*Sherlock Holmes is a fictional detective created by Arthur Conan Doyle, a British writer. The character first appeared in "A Study in Scarlet" in 1887.
