GEORGIA BUSINESSMAN SPENDS FRIDAY THE 13TH IN BED
Macon, Georgia (JFK+50) If you lost sight in one eye on the 13th of a month, broke an arm on another 13th and broke a leg on still another 13th of a month, you might want to stay in bed all day and night of a Friday the 13th.
That was true of Macon businessman J.A. Parham who lost an eye, broke an arm and a leg on three separate 13ths of the month.
But that wasn't the end of Mr. Parham's troubles. On a fourth 13th of the month "while watching mechanics repair an automobile, a block broke loose and smashed his foot."
No wonder then, as the Evening Star reports on Friday, April 13, 1923, "Today's combination --Friday, 13-- was too much for him."
