"SAYS EMERSON DUNLAY ATTACKED HIM WITH A KNIFE"

FINANCIAL PARTNER OF INVENTOR OF RAILROAD DEVICE CLAIMS SELF-DEFENSE IN SHOOTING

Chicago, Illinois (JFK+50) On May 28, 1923, the inventor of an electrically operated railroad switching device* was shot by his financial partner.  The Casper Daily Tribune reports Emerson Dunlay's wound may be fatal.

George Fisher claims that Mr. Dunlay "attacked him with a knife when he refused to advance further funds," and that he shot the inventor "in self defense."

*railroad switch, aka turnout, is a mechanical installation enabling railway trains to be guided from one track to another.
