DISTRICT APPELLATE COURT UPHOLDS DECISION TO DISMISS LAWSUIT BY WILSON'S FORMER SECRETARY
Washington, D.C. (JFK+50) On June 4, 1923, the former secretary to President Woodrow Wilson, Joseph P. Tumulty*, "lost out in the Court of Appeals" in his lawsuit against the Southern Building Company, Inc. "to prevent the company from ousting him from offices in the Southern building."
C.J. McCoy of the District Supreme Court had dismissed the lawsuit and today the Appellate Court upheld that ruling.
*Joseph Patrick Tumulty (1879-1954) was born in Jersey City, NY & became a lawyer & politician who served as private secretary to Woodrow Wilson, 1911-1921. JPT was a leader of the Irish Catholic political community.
JFK+50 NOTE
Mr. Tumulty leased the offices from Senator Joseph W. Bailey, but the Southern Building Company maintained that the Senator had no right to transfer his lease.
