"HIGH TREASON & ATTEMPT TO OVERTHROW GOVERNMENT"

LUDENDORFF FREED, HITLER GUILTY IN 'PUTSCH' BUT LIKELY TO GET AMNESTY

Munich, Germany (JFK+50) On April 1, 1924, General Erich Ludendorff* was freed and accepted candidacy for the Reichstag while Adolf Hitler** is to be released from "three charming rooms in prison...after six months for good behavior."

Hitler had been sentenced to five years for "high treason and armed endeavor to overthrow the government" in the Munich Putsch*.

The Evening Star reports Adolf Hitler is likely to be granted amnesty and that the verdict is popular in Germany.

*Erich Ludendorff (1865-1937) was born in Poland & became a German general, politician & military theorist.  EL won fame in WWI.

**Adolf Hitler (1889-1945) was born in Austria & became dictator of Nazi Germany 1933-1945.  

***Munich 'Beer Hall' Putsch was a failed coup directed by Nazi Party leader Adolf Hitler on Nov 8 & 9, 1923.
