NGS TO SEND EXPEDITION TO MEXICO TO UNCOVER RUINS OF CUICUILO

Washington, D.C. (JFK+50) On April 24, 1924, The Evening Star reports that the National Geographic Society* announced "the sending of an expedition to Mexico to uncover the oldest structure yet found on the American continent."

The Star says the ruins of Cuicuilo** "constitute the Pompeii of the world" and are estimated to be 8000 years old.  Further explorations, like those previously conducted by Professor Byron Cummings, "may revolutionize our history of ancient America."
