INTERCOLLEGIATE COMMITTEE REPORTS STUDENT LIVING SITUATION UNDESIRABLE
Boston, Massachusetts (JFK+50) On November 13, 1924, the Associated Press informs readers of The Evening Star that a report "submitted to a meeting of the student intercollegiate committee on student living conditions" here in Greater Boston declares "there is almost everything to help a student go wrong and almost nothing to hinder him or her from going wrong."
The committee is composed of representatives from six universities and colleges in the area...Harvard, MIT, Boston University, Northeastern University and Emerson College of Oratory.
Its' report states...
"In some rooming houses young men and women are living in less protection from moral temptation than is desirable. (They) frequent each other's rooms and engage with the opposite sex for immoral purposes."
JFK+50 NOTE
According to Noura Islam, college life in the decade of the 1920s was "indeed a party." Social life was "everything." Getting Cs was common and those who actually studied. "grinds", were regarded as outcasts by other students.
