"ONE OF FEW OCCASIONS A MISTAKE WAS MADE"

CONGRESSIONAL RECORD 'IN ERROR' ON WEAVER CONFIRMATION

Washington, D.C. (JFK+50) On March 5, 1925, The Evening Star reports that The Congressional Record* 'scooped' the world yesterday when it announced that the nomination of Charles B. Weaver** to be Attorney General had been confirmed by the United States Senate.

Members of Congress were taken by surprise by the announcement because the Senate had been in executive session for only a few minutes on Tuesday.

As it turns out, the Record was "in error,"  The Star says this is one of "the very few" occasions that The Congressional Record has made such a mistake.

JFK+50 NOTE

Charles B. Weaver was never confirmed by the United States Senate for Attorney General.
