HAVE YOU GOT THE BOND STREET BEND?
London (JFK+50) On June 13, 1925, Associated Press reports the question now being asked by the youth of London is, 'Have you got the Bond Street* Bend?'
According to AP, half the population in the society haunts of London "walk with a bend, hunching their shoulders, bending their knees and walking in the form of a question mark."
Lord Dawson of Penn**, physician ordinary to the king, says the result of this phenomenon is abdominal protrusion and the bend gait, "all sorts of ailments that should never happen."
*Bond Street (1925) was a prominent address known for its luxury shopping & fashionable atmosphere. Its stores featured luxury goods & fine jewelry.
**Bertrand Edward Dawson (1864-1945) was born in Croydon & received his MD at Royal London Hospital 1893. BED was physician for the British Royal Family & president of the Royal College of Physicians 1931-1937.
