"DR. BROWN PICKED THE WRONG BOX"

BE CAUTIOUS WHEN MAILING A LETTER IN WASHINGTON

Washington, D.C. (JFK+50) On September 16, 1925, Dr. P.R. Brown of West Point, Mississippi, visiting his daughter here in the Nation's Capital, attempted to put his outgoing mail in a letter box on the corner of 44th Street and Klingle Road, but "picked the wrong box."

Dr. Brown opened the box which read "Pull down and let go."  He did as directed, and soon two local fire engine companies arrived.  A police officer came on the scene and soon determined the mistake.

The Evening Star reports that no action against Dr. Brown has been taken.
