SENATOR & CONGRESSMAN JOIN FORCES TO MAKE GOOD ON PLANS FOR CAPITOL COMPLETION
Washington, D.C. (JFK+50) On January 18, 1926, The Sunday Star reports that "for half a century" plans to complete the Capitol of the United States have been on the back-burner.
But now, thanks to the efforts of Senator Porter H. Dale* (R-Vermont) and Representative Andrew J. Montague** (D-Virginia) that situation may change.
Capitol Architect David Lynn*** "is prepared to submit plans...specifications and estimates of cost" for this project so long delayed.
Will P. Kennedy writes that the 287 foot dome "is over to one side" instead of being "over the middle" of the building.
It was estimated in 1921 that the work to complete the Capitol building would cost around $4 million.
