MILLER & PICKFORD DENY 'IMPENDING DIVORCE'
Casper, Wyoming (JFK+50) On January 11, 1926, The Casper Daily Tribune reports that according to Mrs. Carl Miller, mother of stage star Marilynn Miller*, there is a widening rift between Marilynn and her husband Jack Pickford**.
Both, according to the Tribune, deny a divorce is impending. At the present time, Mr. Pickford is in Hollywood while Miss Miller is in New York City.

Ben Lyon, a casting director, thought Norma Jean Baker (a.k.a. Marilyn Monroe) reminded him of Marilyn Miller so her name was changed to Marilyn.
*Marilyn Miller (1898-1936) was born in Evansville, Indiana & became one of the most popular stars of Broadway musicals in the 1920s & 1930s. She was an accomplished tap dancer, singer & actress. MM divorced Jack Pickford in 1927.
**Jack Pickford (1896-1933) was born in Toronto, Canada & was the younger brother of silent movie star Mary Pickford. JP served in the US Navy in WWI & appeared in 130 films 1908-1928.
