"ON 1ST FLOOR OF THE COOLIDGE HOMESTEAD IN PLYMOUTH"

COLONEL JOHN COOLIDGE DIES BEFORE PRESIDENT'S ARRIVAL AT BEDSIDE

Plymouth, Vermont (JFK+50) On March 19, 1926, The Evening Star reports the death "during the night," of the father of the President of the United States, John Calvin Coolidge, Sr.*

J. Russell Young writes...

"In a quaint little room on the first floor of the Coolidge homestead, President (Calvin) Coolidge looked down at the body of his father..."

The President was accompanied by the First Lady, their son John and Attorney General Sargent.

Funeral services are scheduled for tomorrow afternoon in Plymouth.

JFK+50 NOTE

John Calvin Coolidge, Sr. died 12 hours before his son, the President, arrived at his bedside.  Date of death is given as March 18, 1926.  His death came nearly 2 weeks before his 81st birthday.
