WWI VET, INSTRUCTOR AT LEAVENWORTH, DEAD BY SUICIDE
Leavenworth, Kansas (JFK+50) On March 16, 1926, Associated Press reports Major Philip H. Bagby*, "an infantry officer...at the General Services Schools...committed suicide last night."
Major Bagby, a Lt. Col. of infantry during the world war, was 43 years old. He received the Distinguished Service Medal in support of army intelligence in the last year of the war.
*Philip Haxall Bagby (1882-1926) was born in Richmond, Virginia, served in WWI & at the time of his death was an instructor in tactics & military history at GSS.
