SON OF GREEK IMMIGRANT MET BY KANSAS DELEGATION
Washington, D.C. (JFK+50) On June 4, 1924, George Chumos of Topeka High School, son of a Greek immigrant to the United States, was met at Union Station by Senator Arthur C. Capper* of Kansas and other members of the Kansas delegation.
Mr. Chumos is taking part in a national oratorical contest to be held at Memorial Continental Hall Friday night.
Senator Capper presented the young man to President Calvin Coolidge and hosted a luncheon for him at the Senate restaurant.
*Arthur C. Capper (1865-1951) was born in Garnett, Kansas & served as governor of Kansas 1915-1919, & as U.S. Senator 1919-1949.
