NATALIE PORTMAN IS JACKIE
Knoxville, Tennessee (JFK+50) As a Christmas gift this year my daughter Jennifer gave me a gift certificate for Regal Cinema and we are going together this afternoon to see the movie "Jackie" starring Natalie Portman* and Caspar Phillipson.
This post will detail some of the facts about the film as well as a few of the reviews. Tomorrow we will give our take on the movie.
"Jackie" is a Fox Searchlight Pictures film directed by Pablo Larrain**. The screenplay was written by Noah Oppenheim. Released on December 2 of this year, the movie has an "R" rating and lasts 1 hour and 40 minutes.
Following are some of the comments made by the film critics....
"Intensely affecting and insistently protean, the film Jackie is a reminder that for a time Jacqueline Kennedy was bigger than any star, bigger than Marilyn or Liz..." Manohla Dargis, New York Times
"This is a movie about power and its spectacle is that of a woman almost losing all of it. Larrain portrays all of this with the appropriate degree of horror and sorrow." Colin Covert, Minneapolis Star Tribune
"Portman is simply brilliant, getting to the essence of Jackie without resorting to a mere impersonation." Calvin Wilson, St. Louis Star-Dispatch
"It is, in its own way, a eulogy not just to Camelot but to the American dream itself. It is grace in the midst of madness." Marc Savlov, Austin Chronicle
*Natalie Portman (Neta-Lee Hershlag) was born in Jerusalem on June 9, 1981. Her father is Israeli & her mother is American. Natlaie is an actress, producer and director.
