MR. PRESIDENT, WHY DO YOU LIKE YOUR JOB?
Washington, D.C. (JFK+50) Fifty-four years ago, October 31, 1963, John F. Kennedy gave his 63rd news conference as President of the United States in the State Department auditorium.
A reporter asked...
"(Now that) you have had a chance to appraise your job, why do you like it and why do you want...four more years?"
President Kennedy answered...
"I have given...the definition of happiness by the Greeks. It is full use of your powers along lines of excellence. I find....the presidency provides some happiness."
President Kennedy was not the first Chief Executive to love his job, but there have not that many who did.
Other than JFK, I would say Theodore Roosevelt loved every minute of his years in the White House. TR's cousin, Franklin, had to love it as well since he ran for the office four times.
